Culturally competent organizations must sanction, and in some cases mandate, the incorporation of culturally specific knowledge into their policies, practices and infrastructure.

This 6-hour course will address the meaning and importance of cultural competency and provide a conceptual framework for policy makers and organizations to build upon. Emphases will be placed on understanding culturally competent guiding values and principles, as well as the importance of breaking out of the diversity box to instead focus on competency and inclusion; thereby placing value on culture, skills, knowledge and competency. This course will also explore and address the disadvantages of workplace exclusion.
